Client: London Borough of Havering

Location: Hornchurch

Status: Completed

Feasibility study for a fully wheelchair accessible, single storey residential scheme located on a cul de sac site at Aldwych Close in Hornchurch, providing high quality accommodation for children with a range of physical and sensory needs, including autism and SEND. The proposal comprises a four bedroom respite facility and a two bedroom long term residential unit, each with separate entrances and independent living facilities.

A shared staff administration area serves both, with a central dividing door allowing the scheme to operate either independently or as a single integrated arrangement. The design prioritises accessibility, safety and wellbeing, with step free environments, quiet rear facing bedrooms, secure supervised play areas, and clear emergency and service access throughout the site, as well as sensory gardens and allotment style growing planters.
