East London Independent School Phase 2

Exterior of East London Independent School (ELIS) building in Stratford before refurbishment

Client: TCES Group

Location: Stratford, London

Status: Completed

Conversion of an existing locally listed church hall to provide specialist education facilities for SEMH and ASD pupils, alongside the related refurbishment and reconfiguration of the main school to achieve pupil separation and simplified staff management. The scheme includes the insertion of a new first floor, creating classrooms, alongside teaching and support spaces, across two levels.

The internal layout was remodelled to deliver appropriate, well ventilated, low arousal classroom environments and the external works included the enhancement of landscaping within the site boundary to provide secure amenity space, drop off arrangements, and car parking. The design prioritises safety and clarity of organisation, responding to the needs of vulnerable pupils through a controlled and supportive learning environment.
