Inverness Street

Street-level view of new family home at Inverness Street, Camden, with green copper mansard roof

Client: Private

Location: Camden, London

Status: Completed

The proposal involves demolition of an existing vacant building and its replacement with a new single family dwelling on a constrained site. The scheme provides basement and ground floor accommodation, with a mezzanine level within a mansard roof.

The house is arranged over three levels, connected by a centrally located spiral staircase, with a rooflight introducing daylight into the plan.

Situated at the boundary of two conservation areas and adjacent to Grade II listed buildings, the design responds sensitively to its context, retaining the gap between terraces, maintaining the building line, and adopting a restrained material palette.
